The Additive Manufacturing CRC’s STARTER Program offers matching cash funding of $20,000 – $75,000 for projects of 3 – 12 months duration, designed to accelerate early-stage adoption and application of additive manufacturing.
The Program brings together manufacturers, researchers, technology providers, and supply chain partners to test feasibility, de-risk adoption, and build capability across the additive manufacturing value chain.
Applicants must be Australian-registered businesses or manufacturers. Priority will be given to companies that are Partners with the AMCRC.
Applicants must partner with an AMCRC Research Partner to undertake the project:

- CSIRO
- Curtin University
- Deakin University
- Flinders University
- Griffith University
- Monash University
- Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT)
- Swinburne University of Technology (SUT)
- Adelaide University
- University of Queensland (UQ)
- University of Technology Sydney (UTS)
- University of Western Sydney
Projects must address Manufacturing Readiness Level 3-8 at commencement, maturing readiness over the course of the project.
Projects should align with at least one of AMCRC’s research programs:
- Sustainable Manufacturing – improving resource efficiency, sustainability and lifecycle outcomes across the additive manufacturing value chain
- Application and Materials Development – developing new materials and applications for additive manufacturing
- Technology and Certified Process Development – advancing additive manufacturing processes, quality assurance and certification pathways
- Surface Technologies and Post-Processing – improving finishing technologies and process for additive manufacturing parts.
Projects should also align with priority industry sectors where additive manufacturing can deliver strategic value, including defence and aerospace, energy resources, medtech, transport and advanced industrial manufacturing.
