ASCA is seeking proposals to develop and demonstrate innovative solutions that address emerging land force energy requirements.
ASCA has up to $6.6M (GST inclusive) for distribution across projects of up to 12 months duration with outputs at a minimum TRL 6.
Responses are to address one or both of the Desired Capability Effects:
DCE 1 – Company Level Power Generation and Management
- modular, scalable and low-signature power capability that supports dispersed company-level operations for up to 72 hours independently of higher-echelon power sources (equivalent to approximately 780 kWh of available electrical energy)
- may incorporate power generation, energy storage, energy replenishment and power distribution functions, and should support operations at company, platoon and section levels.
- supports common military and commercial AC and DC power interfaces
- 3000 W continuous available power
- no individual component more than 40 kg weight
DCE 2 – Tactical Power Edge
- modular and scalable power capability that enables platoons, sections and individual soldiers to operate for up to 48 hours without reliance on company-level replenishment capabilities (up to 138 kWh of available electrical energy)
- may incorporate local power generation, energy storage, energy harvesting, battery exchange or energy replenishment functions suitable for operation at the tactical edge.
- Multiple DCE 2 systems may be employed to meet platoon-level energy requirements.
- supports common soldier-system and commercial power interfaces
- 100 W continuous available power
- no more than 8 kg weight
An Industry Briefing will be held 16 September 2026 – Register here.
A recording of the briefing will be made available on the ASCA Power Challenge web page.
Responses are due 2:00pm AEDT 15 October 2026 via AusTender Ref: ASCA-RFT-2026-LDTPM.
