DARPA is seeking submissions of innovative basic or applied research concepts in the technical domain of novel electronic metamaterials and nanostructures for applications to quantum-limited superconducting (SC) nanoelectronics.

Submissions are to propose

(i) novel electronic metamaterials that lead to enhanced device-relevant properties; and

(ii) the design of metamaterial-based SC nanoelectronic devices with beyond-SoA performance metrics arising from the device-scale incorporation of such  metamaterials.

It should be emphasized that the proposed metamaterial structures and devices should be compatible with scalable fabrication techniques.

Proposals are to be structured as two independent and sequential phases

  1. Feasibility – up to USD$350,000 over 9 months
  2. Proof of Concept – up to USD$$525,000 over 9 months.

This call for submissions is part of the Program Announcement for Disruptioneering (DARPA-PA-23-02).

Submissions are due 17 August 2023.
