DARPA is seeking innovative basic or applied research concepts in the technical domain of Drag Reducing Architected Geometries (DRAG).

This Disruption Opportunity seeks to optimise surface geometries, topologies and surface characteristics of submerged objects in water to minimise drag for transitional and fully turbulent Reynolds numbers.  The effort will focus on novel solutions that reduce drag on flat, curved and complex surfaces.

Up to USD$1M is available over two phases (Phase 1 base – feasibility study; Phase 2 option – proof of concept).

This Disruption Opportunity is issued under the Program Announcement for Disruptioneering (DARPA-PA-23-03)

Proposals are due 16 October 2023.
