DARPA’s Microsystems Technology Office seeks innovative proposals in the area of robust quantum sensing.
RoQS aims to develop and demonstrate quantum sensors that inherently resist performance degradation from platform interferers, with demonstration of the sensors on government-provided platform, such that quantum sensors will no longer be considered frail.
RoQS will comprise two phases and two technical areas. Separate proposals must be submitted for each technical area. Successful teams from Phase 1 of each technical area will be invited to submit proposals for Phase 2, expected to be 12 months and require the development of a build of walk-on/walk-off quantum sensor and testing on eg a helicopter.
Technical Area 1 – Sensor Development
- Phase 1 – 30 months – proof-of-concept robust quantum sensor development
Technical Area 2- Platform Integration Study
- Phase 1a (base) – 6 months – identification of DoD Programs of Record (PoR) (platforms) with unmet requirements that could be met through integration of quantum sensors
- Phase 1b (option) – 6 months – specify system integration requirements for identified platform(s)
- Phase 1b Extension (option) – 18 months – co-ordinate/engage with technical area 1 teams, establish teaming etc.
Abstracts are compulsory, due 20 February 2025, with invited full proposals due 31 March 2025.
