Applications for funding under the Innovation and Power Resilience rounds of the TDRI program are now open, closing 20 October 2023.

Funding Stream 1: Pilot Projects

  • $50,000 – $1.5M
  • 1:1 cash co-contribution required
  • projects to be completed by 30 June 2025
  • using technologies aligned with a TRL 4 – 7
  • supports projects involving the development, piloting, trialling and/or testing of innovative technologies that, while technically feasible and likely to have benefits for telecommunications power resilience, require additional development, field or prototype/viability testing etc before being commissioned or deployed at scale (such as to resolve technical issues or to demonstrate/validate a proof-of-concept etc).

Funding Stream 2: Deployment Grants

  • $50,000 – $5M
  • 1:1 cash co-contribution required
  • projects to be completed by 30 June 2025
  • using technologies aligned with a TRL 8 – 9
  • supports projects involving the broader deployment of innovative technologies that have demonstrated power resilience benefits for telecommunications and where the technical feasibility of the proposed technology has already been demonstrated and established.
  • mobile network operator, mobile infrastructure provider or NBN corporation eligibility requirement
  • must maintain the funded solution for an operational period of 10 years
  • depending on focus area, may be deployment location requirements

Innovation Round

  • funds innovative telecommunications technologies which will improve the resiliency, redundancy and availability of telecoms during and/or following natural disasters
  • focus areas: deployable telecommunications solutions; satellite connectivity; and enhanced situational awareness
  • more information and application via GrantConnect ref: GO6403.
  • Documentation: TDRI Innovation Round Guidelines

Power Resilience Round

  • funds solutions that strengthen the resilience of telecommunications against the impacts of power outages
  • focus areas: stand-alone, off-grid power solutions; deployable power solutions; and energy efficient telecommunications infrastructure
  • more information and application via GrantConnect ref: GO6402.
  • Documentation: TDRI Power Resilience Round Guidelines
