DASA has re-opened the Security Rapid Impact Innovation Open Call for submission of ideas that could enhance understanding of threats to UK security and safety, enable threat prevention, or enhance the threat response. Some proposals will likely be relevant to both defence and security.
Projects are expected to
- be completed by March 2025 (including testing & trialling)
- deliver a technology model or prototype demonstration at TRL 6 or 7
- be able to achieve an impact within 3 years of project completion
While there is no upper limit on funding requests, it is expected that projects will be requesting £100,000 – £350,000.
Ideas can relate to any aspect of the UK security sector and research interests or requirements of associated security departments, agencies, strategies and business plans eg:
Law Enforcement and Border Security – Home Office, Counter Terrorism Strategy (CONTEST), Border Force Strategy, Police Science and Technology Strategy, National Strategic Threat Assessment for Serious and Organised Crime, National Security Venture Capital investment priorities
Transport Security – Department of Transport, Maritime Security Strategy, Maritime and Coastguard Business Plan, Land Transport Security Strategy, Aviation Secotro Strategy
Protective Security – Implementing Protective Security Measures, CBRN decontamination
Criminal Justice – Ministry of Justice, Prison Security Strategy
This call is part of the Open Call for Innovation and is expected to run for the next 2 competition cycles with closing dates of 29 November 2023 and 6 March 2024.
