AI2C is seeking artificial intelligence research and development whitepapers and proposals in support of new technologies and translational research-based approaches that support the identification, alignment, and exploitation of basic, applied, and advanced research.

Proposals will be accepted and assessed on a rolling basis until 31 May 2029.  White papers are strongly encouraged but not mandatory.

Some areas of interest may have security restrictions that preclude non-US involvement.

As part of this BAA, AI2C may make targeted calls in respect to specific topics with submission deadlines.  These will be listed as Amendments to the BAA.

Areas of Interest

  • Autonomous Platforms – autonomous ground and air vehicles, which must operate in open, urban and cluttered environments eg enabling low electromagnetic and physical profiles; propulsion and mobility components; sensing methods for targets and terrain obstacles.
  • AI and M L Algorithms – core algorithmic improvements eg scaling ML methods; improving data efficiently of learning algorithms; foundation model adaptation;
  • AI/ML Decision Support – improve decision making across all echelons eg core reinforcement learning, game theoretic, optimal control algorithms; increased autonomy and speed in decision making; improved operational decision making.
  • Human-AI Integration – reducing the cognitive burden on humans and improve overall performance through human-machine integration eg speech and language algorithms; processing and summarizing large amounts of data; impacts of AI/ML on human decision making; ethical considerations.
  • Synthetic Environments – enabling improved situational awareness and the visualization and navigation of large data sets to enhance operational activities and training and readiness eg novel visualization and synthetic environment approaches; approaches for virtual-live validation of concepts and prototypes.
  • Distributed AI – effectively leveraging modern AI and ML techniques for both enterprise and tactical applications eg methods for governing large portfolios of distributed ML models; effective multi-agent collaboration and multi-agent systems; cyber protection methodologies.
  • Underpinning Methodologies – methodologies, frameworks, tools, facilities, techniques and experimentation concepts, which underpin and enable advanced R&D
