The US Department of Defense Minerva Research Initiative University Research Program supports innovative basic research projects that contribute to the advancement of social science and provides new methods and understandings on social and behavioral questions of security and defense-related interest.
Up to USD$1M per year is available for projects of 3 – 5 years duration (3 year base project plus up to 2 option years). DoD expects to award USD$30M across up to 15 projects.
Applications must address one of the Minerva Research Topics of Interest:
- Social Cohesion and Conflict
- Advancing Influence Measurement(s)
- Arctic at the Polar Crossroads
- Cultural Resilience, Climate and Human Security in Oceania
- Social Impact of Technological Change
- Deterrence and Competition across Military and Civilian Spheres.
White Papers (strongly encouraged but not mandatory) are due via email to osd.minerva@mail.mil by 29 October 2024.
Full proposals are due via Grants.gov by 28 February 2025.
