Australian citizens are eligible for the US Department of Defense Scholarship-for-Service Program SMART Scholarships to gain US educational and Defense experience.
Scholarships are available for undergraduate and postgraduate study up to 5 years.
For every year of scholarship, recipients are required to work for the Department of Defense for 1 year after graduation as a civilian employee. Recipients must also undertake at least 1 summer internship.
Studies must be undertaken in one of 24 STEM disciplines:
