The National Council for Fire and Emergency Services Annual Conference and Exhibition (AFAC2023) is pleased to announce new innovation-related opportunities at the event.
The exhibition will include a new Innovation Hub, providing space for organisations to showcase their innovations to build a more capable and connected emergency management sector.
An Innovation PitchFest will be held with participants invited to pitch on the unique and innovative solutions addressing the following topics:
- Preventing the dark ages in our digital age – A disaster strikes, and a region is cut off by road and critical services – including power, water and communication – fail. How can response, relief and recovery agencies facilitate on-ground communication to ensure that the right information gets to the right person?
- There’s a storm brewing – How do we better predict the impact of severe weather? We know there’s a high impact weather event incoming, but the impact can still take us by surprise. What tools can assist with better understanding the hazard from impending weather events and the likely impact?
- Do computers have the answers we need – How can big data and machine learning build community resilience by identifying and quantifying risks, prioritising mitigation efforts, and monitoring and evaluating their effectiveness to better anticipate and prepare for disasters?
