It is important for critical infrastructure operators to prioritise the continuation of their critical services even if this affects the delivery of non-critical services in the short term.
Operational technology and enabling systems are prime targets for malicious actors, state-sponsored and criminal. Over the last 15 years there has been an increase in the targetting of operational systems and the sophistication of attacks. Many operational technology and enabling systems were not engineered to withstand sophisticated cyber attacks.
