DARPA – Request for Information – High Power Direct Energy Conversion from Nuclear Power Systems

twitterlinkedin

DARPA Defense Sciences Office is requesting information and suggestions on fundamental breakthroughs required to accelerate development of a new generation of efficient, resilient, and direct methods for converting energy released through nuclear radiative processes (eg alpha, beta, gamma, neutron) into electricity. These methods should apply to radiation from any type of reactor (eg fission, fusion), nuclear process, or decaying radioisotope.

DARPA requests information on the potential to improve damage tolerance of the voltaic to nuclear radiation (eg alpha, beta, gamma, neutron) to reach an operating lifetime comparable to the life of its nuclear source (ie decades).

Responses are to be submitted via email to DARPA-SS-24-01@darpa.mil by 30 August 2024.
