DISR is seeking responses to an issues paper to inform the the updated Critical Minerals List.

DISR is particularly interested in responses to the following questions:

  • Is the current set of criteria for inclusion on the Critical Minerals list still fit for purpose?
  • For minerals currently on the list, or that should be considered to addition to or removal from the list, what technologies do they support? What are the supply chain barriers/risks?
  • Should Australia differentiate between criticality or importance of minerals, and the capability to process them?
  • What lessons could be learned from other countries’ approaches?
  • What should trigger updates to the list?

Submissions are due 17 August 2023.
