Callum Wright, Associate Director of DSI
With over 30 years of continuous service within the Department of Defence, Callum brings a wealth of experience and an awareness of the challenges faced in the delivery of defence scientific research. His wide range of experience provides a broad perspective, coupled with deep experience in Defence science. He has personal experience across a large range of Defence systems and associated science and technology, largely within the aerospace domain. He has personally contributed to research and development of traditional crewed platforms such as FA-18, PC-9, Hawk Mk127, AP-3C, P-8A, MQ-55A and uncrewed aerial systems, including MQ-4C Triton, SkyGuardian and Heron.
Most recently he was the discipline lead for composite structures and has been collaboratively integrating DSTG and academic experts to focus on trans-disciplinary outcomes for Defence. He was also a contributor to the research supporting the adoption of risk-based methodologies for the certification and operation of UAS within Australia and the ADF.
