Expressions of interest are open for the DSIR-funded Global Science and Technology Diplomacy Fund – Strategic Element, closing 31 May 2024.

Administered by the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and the Australian Academy of Sciences, the fund supports collaboration in key areas of science and technology with priority partner countries across the Asia-Pacific region.

Grants from $100,000 to $1,000,000 are available to support collaborations focused on one of the 5 priority themes and including at least one priority partner country.

  • artificial intelligence
  • hydrogen production
  • RNA (including mRNA) vaccines and therapies

 

Priority Countries

  • Brazil
  • Indonesia
  • Japan
  • Republic of Korea
  • Malaysia
  • New Zealand
  • Singapore
  • Thailand
  • Vietnam

 

Applications are open to industry, universities, PFROs, not-for-profts, government bodies, CRCs and trusts.  The nominated project lead must be an Australian Citizen , Permanent Resident or holder of a subclass 444 Special Category Visa and must be resident in Australia.  This only applies to the project lead.

Multi-lateral activities can include partners from non-priority countries in addition to at least one priority partner, however activities supported by the grant funds must take place with the priority country partner.

Eligible activities include research or commercialisation projects; international conference, workshops etc; staff excahnges and secondments; product and service design and development projects; software development and beta testing.
