The US Bureau of Industry and Security recently announced changes and proposed changes to rules relating to the control of exports from the USA of space-related technologies:
- certain items involving remote sensing or space-based logistics, assembly or servicing spacecraft, which are destined for Australia, Canada or the UK will no longer have licensing requirements
- licensing requirements are being removed or reduced for certain spacecraft components to nominated allies and partners worldwide
- it is proposed that certain space-related defense articles be transferred from US Munitions List controls to Commerce Controls, eg spacecraft capable of refueling other spacecraft and spacecraft capable of autonomous collision avoidance
