DARPA – Human-AI Communication for Deontic Reasoning Devops (CODORD) – DARPA-PA-24-04-01

DARPA Defense Sciences Office is seeking submissions in the technical domain of knowledge authoring (KA) for deontic logical reasoning.

CODORD’s focus is on developing new AI-based techniques for deontic KA, rather than on developing methods for automated deontic reasoning in the logical language itself. These new KA techniques will enable humans with knowledge engineer (KE) skill to author deontic KA in a new manner and will enable humans without KE skill to do much of the KA that previously required KE skill.  CODORD performers will focus on developing new automatic techniques for translating deontic knowledge from NL into logical language. To constrain the problem, CODORD performers must concentrate specifically on generating deontic logical knowledge that is expressed in an opensource logical language that meets four defined practical requirements.

CODORD will be a two phase program:

  1. Base – 12 months – up to USD$1.1M
  2. Option – 12 months – up to USD$1.1M

NOTE: Combined phase 1 and 2 value must not exceed USD$2M.

This opportunity is issued under the Disruptioneering Program – DARPA-PA-24-04.

Abstracts (encouraged but not required) are due 31 October, 2024, with full proposals due 10 December 2024.
