The next DAIRNet Defence AI Seminar will be presented by Prof Rain Liivoja, University of Queensland, on What is Responsible AI in the Military: a readout from the Seoul REAIM Summit.
The second Responsible AI in the Military (REAIM) Summit was held in Seoul on 9 – 10 September this year, hosted by the Korean government among others, with a ‘Blueprint for Action’, endorsed by 61 participating countries. It followed on from the inaugural Summit held in The Hague in 2023, which produced the Call for Action, and represented progress, although modest, towards the Summits’ goal of progressing discussion and action towards ensuring the responsible military application of AI. This presentation, provided by one of the experts appointed to the Global Commission Commissioner for REAIM which was established by the Netherlands Government following the first Summit, seeks to outline what developments occurred during the summit, and provide a read-out as to the status of States.
