Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Fellowships

The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, in association with the Australian Academy of Science, is accepting applications for its Fellowship Program, due 4 November 2024.

These Fellowships are for Australian researchers to undertake collaborative projects with Japanese host researchers at JSPS-affiliated institutes in Japan for between 12 and 24 months.

Applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or New Zealand citizen with a Special Category (subclass 444) visa and must have received their PhD on or after 2 April 2019 or are scheduled to receive their doctorate before the proposed Fellowship start date.

Research can be undertaken in any field of the physical sciences, life sciences, engineering, technology and medicine.

Preference will be given to proposals that address one or more of Australia’s National Science and Research Priorities.  The Building a Secure and Resilient Nation priority includes the research subfields of: AI; quantum; robotics and machine learning; cyber security; supply chain resilience; disaster risk reduction and management; critical infrastructure protection.
